Welcome
At
Market Cross Guest House, Jill and John Hodge offer you luxury accommodation, award winning hospitality and fabulous food.
Where
Situated
in the centre of Belford village (see here), Market Cross is an ideal base for
exploring many of the outstanding attractions that the area has to
offer.
We are close to the beautiful coastline, the
unspoilt Cheviot Hills and the numerous castles and monuments of this
historic county.
Among the attractions are Lindisfarne
(Holy Island), Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle (location for the Harry
Potter films), the Alnwick Garden, Cragside and many more - for details
see here.
When
When
the Great North Road ran through Belford, this sturdy and attractive
200 year-old house played a vital part in the stopping off schedule for
the London to Edinburgh stage-coaches (together with the adjoining
Black Swan coaching inn).
These days, with the village long since bypassed, Market Cross is still an ideal resting-place for the discerning traveller.
Why
We
provide the most comfortable of accommodation and, on fine mornings,
you may be fortunate enough to sample one of Jill's famous Northumbrian
breakfasts, out in the open air, in the old enclosed courtyard.
Please take a look around the rest of the site, and if there is anything you are not sure of, please contact us.
Reviews
We have numerous commendations and awards for our friendly welcome, standards of comfort and the quality of food. Some of these can be seen on TripAdvisor (right).
In the 2008-2009 season we (Jill and John) were runners-up (from over 4,000 B&Bs) in the national AA Friendliest Landlady of the Year award.
We hope you will come and see why.
